How to recover from an out of control day

How often do you get a day when nothing quite goes to plan?  How often, once the plans starts to fold do you lose focus on the end goal and your overall success?

Success isn’t just completing the to-do list it’s about completing the plan with each task not only being checked off but having a next step.  Once the plan starts to collapse focus is easily lost, how then can you get focus back.

Step 1 – Finish the task you are on

Get the one task you are on complete. This gives you thinking space and that allows you to see clearly.

Step 2 – Take a 5 minute breather

At this point just stop. Don’t even think about your plan. Grab a cup of coffee and think about your dreams, happy things and your success

Step 3 – Pull out and review your written plan

Your plan has not failed.  Repeat after me “My plan has not failed” . Now take your plan and adjust what you need to adjust,  don’t get angry with it and don’t think you now need to complete everything on it. Prioritise the key parts of your plan, if there is something that can be easily moved to tomorrow then move it and adjust your plan for tomorrow accordingly.  Now write down the changes.

Step 4 – get back out there

Once your plan is now adjusted you are back at a fresh start. Your coffee should have kicked in and you should be ready to get going again. Your focus has now returned. And the key to it is Step 2, the 5 minute breather.

Now you are back on track you have taken back control of your day, your week or even your life
My day today has been exactly that as above, hence this blog is later than normal… I told you this blog is real.

I hope this helps someone.
