Rock Bottom is a terrific place to be and I will keep repeating it. Rock Bottom Rocks!
When at Rock Bottom and you are in the Emporium of Delights as mentioned yesterday it is a huge temptation to choose everything that exists. Today I will tell you about the basics, the stuff your mother always kept in the pantry to feed the family at lean times. In this case it's not the packets of pasta, long life milk and other such basics of a culinary nature but the basics of life, the string and sticky tape if you like.
The first thing you must take is the Freedom of Choice, Free Thought - the Law Of Attraction dictates that we all have this but few of us grasp it with both hands and use it to our benefit, now is you chance to do it, grab it and make it work - here is the place to find it!
The Basics
What are the basics in life. Essentially they are at the bottom of Maslows Hieracy of needs and before anything else is put in your Rock Bottom Shopping Cart you must take these. Oh yes, the cool thing about the candy shop in Rock Bottom it that everything costs nothing.
Make sure you have the basics. A roof over your head and food is the absolute basic. At Rock Bottom you cannot be fussy, accept what you can afford. In my case this has meant a move from a decent, private and cosy house to a small, basic room in someone Else's house. At Rock Bottom those who are your true friends will look up to you and will understand you have had to move down the ladder a little or even a lot.
The biggest basic you need to take is pride. Being at Rock Bottom others may see as a bad place. When down at Rock Bottom accept it and try to imagine it as a happy place. Pride will take a knock but it is only when your pride is knocked or you are kicked when you are down that you often see the true way forward. Take the package marked pride and keep looking into the empty box it comes in and see yourself head held up, shoulders back and on top of the world.
The other basic is ability. What can you do? What are you good at? Everybody is good at something. There is a man I know in the UK that was good at cleaning windows, well educated but no university degree or real chances of a high powered job. He knew he was good at cleaning and now after a long hard struggle and going to Rock Bottom owns a hugely successful cleaning business, has a wonderful wife and great kids. If you are good only at something that may seem menial start doing it to earn income, do it well and work up - there are a huge number of hugely satisfied cleaners in the world! Take ability and apply it - ask those around you "what am I good at?" and maybe expect to be hurt or even surprised.
The final basic you need is courage. Courage to face every day. Courage to do things a little different. Courage to be you. Taking a job you may not like or want to take take for whatever reason is often when is required. It sometimes goes back to pride "what will my friends say". Stop it! It's you right now and you alone not what others think or say. As long as it is positive for you then it is right for you, and it may just be a simple stepping stone to keep breathing!
Yes, all this may all sound like something out of the Wizard of Oz but the story of Dorothy trying to get home is very much the story of Rock Bottom. The parallels between Rock Bottom and Oz is actually quite real. Everybody in with Dorothy and Dorothy herself are looking for a way forward, not out of, but forward from their current position and they all are seeking one thing and it is not a thing it is a who. "Who can I ask?" is the one question at Rock Bottom so many do not ask and right now at Rock Bottom you have the luxury to ask so ask away!
You now have the basics. All of them in the mind, all of them free of charge. Now it is time to make the final step. Tomorrow I'll tell you what that is and what is so vital and unique about Rock Bottom.
